Dr. Jeff Matte
Medical Staff Representative
Born and raised in Northern Ontario, Dr. Matte completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario, with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. He graduated from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in 2010 and then completed his Family Medicine residency though McMaster University, with specialty training in Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Matte comes from the small town of New Liskeard and has always had a strong interest in rural medicine. As a vibrant community within a rural setting, Collingwood was a perfect place for him to practice!
In addition to his clinical role as an Emergency Physician at CGMH, he also has a passion for medical education and teaching. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at McMaster University and has been involved in the training of many medical students and resident physicians since 2013.
Dr. Matte has been a Board member at CGMH since 2016 and is currently the Vice President of the Medical Staff. He is involved in numerous hospital committees, including the ER Care Team and the IT steering committee. He also plays a role in simulation education at CGMH by using high fidelity mannequins to simulate realistic crisis situations.
Dr. Matte currently resides in Collingwood with his wife and son. They enjoy travelling, hockey, hiking, paddle boarding, wake boarding and snowboarding.
