RPN – Perinatal PAC/Outpatient Clinic (2017-212)


SHIFT:7.5 & 4 hour day shift coverage

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exhibits the core values of CGMH: Caring, Accountable, Respect, Excellence, Adaptability and Teamwork
  • Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Completion of the Perinatal Nursing Certificate Level 1 or a Maternal Newborn Nursing Course equivalent
  • Current experience or training (within last 3 years) in Postpartum and/ or Labour & Delivery
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation (N.R.P.) and a breastfeeding course is required (or a commitment to complete within 3 months of employment)
  • Current B.C.L.S. certificate
  • Recent experience in patient teaching within perinatal setting
  • Ability to apply the concepts of adult education of prenatal, postnatal and newborn education
  • Excellent customer service demeanour
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to accurately perform the duties of the role with a focused attention to detail
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the role
  • Excellent attendance/performance record
  • Committed to professional growth & development
  • Committed to maintaining confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Meditech and Born data systems preferred
  • Membership in RPNAO an asset

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Obstetrical Nurse Manger, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a total patient care delivery model in accordance with the standards of practice and competencies of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Regulated Health Professionals Act and The Collingwood Hospital. As a Registered Practical Nurse in the Maternal Newborn Program, you will be part of a health care team that promotes the birthing experience as a normal, health process and the family as an integral part of that experience. At this time, the RPN will complete the pre admission documentation required and provide prenatal, postnatal and newborn education and assessment.
